Headache design effect

headache A couple years ago, I found some interesting pictures in the etapes magazine. These pictures really gave me a headache and burned my eyes. They were illustrated entirely by stripes and after looking at them for a while, I suddenly had a "brainache".
I would also like to hurt peoples brains, so I challenged myself to make the same.
As usual, it was harder than I thought !!!
I began vectorizing a picture to try to make the same effect. First I tried to add a layer of duplicated stripes on top of the vectorised picture. The result was not so bad but not really interesting and I didn't have a headache yet. After so many different investigations on how I could do it, I finally found a meticulous way to get "the headache effect".
Being very meticulous, here's the step by step :
  • Vectorise something
  • Expand all
  • Make a duplication of rectangle(or stripes you expand)
  • Divide all
  • Select and add a border on intersected shapes
  • Delete old artefacts
  • Choose adequat backround color
Warning! While performing this effect, you may have a headache too. brain damaged final
Here is the final result
